Why Patient Advocacy?
The overall goal of a patient advocate is to provide patients and caregivers with the support and education they need so they can make their own decisions about their next steps. Advocates have the patient’s back (like a “wingman”) and help make their journey through the health care system as smooth as possible.

Often when a patient receives a life-altering diagnosis all else goes out of the window. They may feel overwhelmed, lost, or helpless.
A Patient Advocate is very useful in these situations.
-
They can make sure the right questions are being asked.
-
They will also ensure the patient is heard and assist all parties in decision-making.
Although a Patient Advocate can not make decisions or diagnoses, they will be there by the patient's side every step of the journey.
